Parsons Festival

The first annual Parsons Festival took place May 7–23, giving the campus community and the public a chance to see work by the next generation of art and design leaders. Events included thesis exhibitions and critiques, public programs, installations, gallery openings, and workshops. The events affirmed Parsons’ engagement with the city and the community, positioning art and design education as a force for social change and innovation. The festival culminated in a block party on Saturday, May 21, with large-scale printmaking, an interactive photo fashion booth, street projects involving urban garden design and public space, a symposium on environmental studies, product displays, and interactive projects with civic and creative partners. Despite variable weather, community neighbors, members of the university community, family, and friends turned out to see student work, don headphones to listen to the interactive Sound Affects installation, and even create prints.
